Amid the 2020 summer riots, corporations hastily aligned themselves with the woke cause by enforcing racial quotas on hiring.
Airlines such as American and United joined the bandwagon, even if it forced experienced pilots into early retirement.
Now, pilots are trained to spot “microaggressions” in the workplace, rather than focusing on the skills necessary for flight performance.
Airlines Dismissed Merit for “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”
With the coronavirus as cover, airlines laid off some of their most veteran pilots, resulting in a shortage and leading to a massive hiring campaign.
CEO of United Airlines, Scott Kirby, stated that the company aimed to hire 5,000 pilots through the Aviate program. Priority would be given to women and people of color over other applicants after their certification.

This diversification effort has had alarming repercussions in more than one instance.
A United 777 that took off from Maui, Hawaii, nearly crashed into the Pacific Ocean after the pilots put the aircraft in a nose dive. Instead of being fired, they were “retrained” and reinstated.
Another United 777 narrowly avoided a collision with a Kamaka Air plane while crossing the wrong runway in Honolulu. In 2022, there was a record high rate of near-air disasters in American aviation history.
Even With Disasters Abounding, Airlines See No Reason to Change the Policy
Get Race Quotas Out Of The Cockpit. Having forced their most experienced pilots into early retirement in 2020, airline recruitment went woke… The last year had the highest number of near-collisions & narrowly averted disasters in modern aviation history https://t.co/cPqUb2Oea0

Delta and American Airlines have also prioritized equity over merit. Both have focused on increasing black representation within their workforce.
However, Delta’s levels of black representation have decreased since 2020. The percentage of black managers has decreased from 7% to 6%, and at the vice president level, it has decreased from 7% to 5%.
Delta has also taken a creative approach to diversity by aiming to employ overweight individuals as pilots in its new “Faces of Travel” campaign.
