In a shocking revelation, a former US Marine who was severely injured in Afghanistan labeled the 2021 withdrawal as a “catastrophe.” His testimony before Congress paints a grim picture of the Biden administration’s handling of the pull-out.
Vargas-Andrews, a brave 25-year-old sergeant, was among the US military personnel assigned to protect Kabul’s airport on August 26, 2021.
This was the fateful day when two suicide bombers targeted crowds of Afghans attempting to escape the Taliban during the US evacuation. The attack claimed the lives of 13 American soldiers and 170 Afghan civilians.
🚨 WATCH this Marine’s gut-wrenching recount of President Biden’s bizarre hospital visit. 😡🏥 Sgt. Tyler Vargas-Andrews lost his arm in the Kabul bombing, but when Biden reached out to shake his hand, disaster struck. The story unfolds here: https://t.co/tJ1mkJn9Lr

The young sergeant testified that he and another Marine had received intelligence about the impending bombing. They spotted the suspect in the crowd and immediately alerted their supervisors, requesting permission to act.
However, their pleas fell on deaf ears. “Plain and simple, we were ignored,” Vargas-Andrews stated, highlighting a grave error in the higher chain of command that cost American soldiers their lives.
But the saga of neglect didn’t end there. After being transported stateside for treatment, Vargas-Andrews had an unexpected visitor – President Joe Biden. What should have been a comforting visit from the commander-in-chief turned into an awkward encounter that left the wounded Marine feeling disrespected.
Vargas-Andrews, who lost his right arm in the attack, recounted how Biden attempted to shake his right hand. When he pointed out his missing arm and the cast on his left, Biden merely grabbed the fingers of his left hand without uttering a word of apology or comfort.

The conversation took an even more bizarre turn when Biden began talking about his son Beau, who served in Iraq and later died of cancer. Vargas-Andrews’ mother, clearly frustrated, demanded that her son be taken care of for the rest of his life.
Biden’s response to this plea was shockingly inappropriate.
According to Vargas-Andrews, Biden leaned over him, got uncomfortably close to his face, and asked, “What do you want?” The question left the wounded Marine confused and upset.
He had just survived a horrific bombing, witnessed his friends die, and lost an arm. All he wanted was to be himself again.
This story is a stark reminder of the real-life consequences of political decisions and the importance of treating our heroes with the respect they deserve. It’s a tale of valor, sacrifice, and a young man’s struggle to make sense of a world that seems to have forgotten him.
