Former President Trump is once again facing legal battles, this time in the form of racketeering charges by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in relation to his challenges of the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Previously, Trump has been charged with 44 federal counts by Special Counsel Jack Smith, including 40 counts in Florida and four counts in Washington DC. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg also charged Trump with 34 felony counts relating to a payment to Stormy Daniels.
The latest charges being considered by Willis are related to racketeering, with a focus on statutes related to influencing witnesses and computer trespass. It is believed that these charges are connected to Trump’s attempts to access and examine Dominion Voting Systems machines in Coffee County and his phone call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.
Despite Trump’s attempts to quash the investigation, Willis is expected to indict him as early as this week.
The authenticity of Trump’s leaked call with Georgia officials, which is the basis for these charges, has been questioned. However, conservative news outlets have already debunked claims that the text of the call published by the Washington Post was fraudulent.
As this legal drama unfolds, one thing is clear: the controversies surrounding former President Trump are far from over.
