Biden’s Department of Defense made a historic announcement on Wednesday. As part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), a substantial $1.3 billion security assistance package will be sent to Ukraine.
In a DoD press release, the package reaffirms America’s devotion to Ukraine’s urgent needs by supplying essential “near-term” resources, while enhancing the “long-term” endurance of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
The new USAI package will be the eighth installment in the military aid program to Ukraine.

The Biden administration plans to use the USAI program as a template to dispatch consistent aid to Ukraine, with shipments containing various military necessities.
This is said to be separate from the presidential drawdown authority, which allows for instant shipment of supplies without bureaucratic difficulty.
This ranges from tactical vehicles, fuel trucks, mining clearing, and electronic warfare detection equipment.
It likewise includes artillery rounds, drones, various munitions, missile systems, and even the Phoenix Ghost, made by Aevex Aerospace and AeroVironment Inc.’s Switchblade Unmanned Aerial Systems.
Since the inception of Biden’s USAI program, the Pentagon has delivered over $10.8 billion in security assistance to Ukraine through seven individual disbursements.

Under President Biden’s USAI program, the Pentagon has provided Ukraine with over $10.8 billion in security assistance, delivered in seven installments.
The newly approved package would constitute an eighth installment in the USAI loaning program, raising the total assistance provided to $12.1 billion.
Biden Previously Vowed to Support Ukraine For However Long It Takes
Since President Biden assumed office, the United States pledged over $42 billion in security assistance to Ukraine.
In January 2022, the total military support has now reached over $46.6 billion, according to the Council on Foreign Relations.
Karine Jean Pierre, the White House press secretary, reiterated the United States’ dedication to backing Ukraine, avowing that the Biden administration is keen on supporting the nation into the future.
