Bud Light, the once-great American beer maker, is facing another significant setback. There is speculation that Costco, a major retailer, may drop Bud Light products due to a “death star” mark on its shelves.
Corporate Misstep
Bud Light’s decision to use transgenderism to promote beer sales or vice versa has proven to be a devastating blunder. Since late March, the fallout from this controversy continues to escalate.
The company has already lost approximately $22 billion in market value, with sales plummeting every week. It has also lost its position as the leading beer brand in the market to a Mexican producer.
Interestingly, the Mexican beer maker that surpassed Bud Light in market share is indirectly owned by Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch, which is based in Belgium. This has led conservative activists to call for a boycott of not just Bud Light, but also its parent company.
Meanwhile, Bud Light faces further trouble as Costco appears to be preparing to remove its products from their stores, as reported by The Daily Mail.

“Death Star” Asterisk
According to reports, Bud Light shelves at Costco stores have been marked with an asterisk resembling the “star of death.” This symbol signifies that the product will not be restocked.
Various videos and photos shared on social media show Bud Light beer price tags at Costco with an asterisk in the top right-hand corner.
In addition to the “star of death” asterisk, Bud Light shelves at Costco have been adorned with labels indicating steadily decreasing prices. One Twitter user even claimed that Costco was practically giving away Bud Light, selling a 2×12 pack for $14.97.
While it has not been officially confirmed that Costco is discontinuing Bud Light, the future of the brand appears to be gloomy.
