In a remarkable display of civil disobedience, armed citizens of Albuquerque, New Mexico took to the streets on September 11, 2023, to protest against an unconstitutional infringement on their Second Amendment rights.
This public demonstration was a direct response to the recent gun control measures implemented by Democratic Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham.
Governor Grisham declared gun violence a public health emergency following the tragic shooting deaths of three children within a span of two months.
She then issued an order suspending open and concealed carry laws across the state, specifically in Bernalillo County. The order temporarily prohibited the carrying of guns on public property, with exceptions for licensed security guards and law enforcement officers.
Private citizens were allowed to possess firearms on private property, provided they transported them in a locked box or used a trigger lock.

However, this move was met with fierce opposition from both citizens and lawmakers alike. State Representatives Stefani Lord and John Block called for the impeachment of Governor Grisham, arguing her emergency order violated her oath to protect and defend the rights of New Mexicans.
They claimed the legislature has a duty to intervene when the government oversteps its boundaries and that Governor Grisham’s order disqualified her from continuing her tenure.
Adding to the chorus of dissent was Sheriff John Allen from Bernalillo County, who publicly announced his refusal to comply with an unconstitutional order. His stance echoed the sentiments of many gun owners in the state, who felt their constitutional rights were being trampled upon.
Leftist Congressman Ted Lieu and erudite scholar David Hogg apparently received their marching orders pertaining to the New Mexico Governor’s gun ban by edict:

In a bold act of defiance, these gun owners organized a rally in Old Town, Albuquerque. Visibly armed, they walked around the town, proudly displaying their firearms and voicing their refusal to comply with Governor Grisham’s order.
Their message was clear: they will not stand by while their rights were being infringed upon.
