George Takei, once a secondary actor in the 1960s “Star Trek” series, evolved into a vocal LGBT activist and supporter of President Biden.
The 86-year-old has frequently made headlines for his contentious views, including his defense of LGBT activists who exposed themselves to children at a Seattle Pride parade and his comparison of Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention centers to concentration camps.
Recently, Takei stirred controversy by suggesting Republican efforts to protect children from irreversible genital mutilation and hormone treatments are reminiscent of the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II and the “dark forces” that led to the horrors of the Holocaust in Europe.
He expressed these views in an opinion piece for the Daily Beast, where he also detailed his family’s wartime relocation from Los Angeles to an internment camp in Rohwer, Arkansas.

Takei argued that legal protections are needed to prevent more people like Zacchigna, Jane, and Black from ending up sterile, transmogrified, and full of regret.
He further suggested that opposition to gender ideology and LGBT activism is akin to Japanese internment, urging everyone to vote in 2024 as if their lives depended on it.
Reflecting on President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s alleged scapegoating of 125,000 Japanese Americans, Takei claimed to understand what being scapegoated meant.
He asserted that elements of the LGBT community are being scapegoated today, despite the community’s flag being prominently displayed at the White House and its agenda being embraced by the federal government and Wall Street.

Takei criticized politicians like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, accusing them of using dangerous tropes from over 50 years ago to label gay and trans people as ‘groomers’ who pose a danger to children.
He claimed these politicians aim to erase the identities of LGBT individuals in education, library books, and communities, even targeting retail stores that supported the LGBT community during Pride Month.
However, it’s important to note that DeSantis and Republicans in over 18 other states passed legislation preventing children from undergoing sex-change procedures.
These laws aim to protect minors from the fate of de-transitioners like Daniel Black, who underwent hormone treatments at 17 and later regretted the irreversible procedures.
Takei’s comments sparked a heated debate, with critics arguing the laws are not intended to scapegoat, but rather to protect minors from irreversible decisions they may later regret.
