Jill Biden Visits Ukraine, Meets Zelensky’s Wife, Olena Zelenska

After spending nearly two hours in Ukraine, Jill Biden’s motorcade returned to Slovakia.

The First Lady of the United States has been touring Eastern Europe to meet with American troops and Ukrainian refugees.

Earlier on Sunday, she met with volunteers in Slovakia who were assisting refugees and visited a school where children were creating crafts projects for Mother’s Day.

Biden expressed her support to the people gathered, saying, “The hearts of the American people are with the mothers of Ukraine.”

The classroom was filled with families whose husbands and fathers were fighting in Ukraine.

One woman, speaking to the pool reporter accompanying Biden, found the first lady’s visit encouraging. She said, “It means support for us. We are very tired. This is emotional support for us.”

In recent weeks, several American officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, have visited Ukraine to show solidarity.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also visited Ukraine on Sunday and met with President Zelensky in Kyiv. Additionally, U2 stars Bono and the Edge performed at a train station in the capital.

Unfortunately, Sunday also witnessed more bloodshed in Ukraine. A school in the eastern village of Bilohorivka, where civilians had taken shelter, was bombed, resulting in a potential death toll of 60 people.

US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield criticized Russia for committing war crimes and emphasized that efforts would be made to gather evidence for holding them accountable.
