Additional Member of Biden Administration Joins CNN’s Team

In a move that further cements its reputation as a mouthpiece for the Democratic party, CNN has once again hired a former Biden administration official.

This time, it’s Jamal Simmons, the former Communications Director for Vice President Kamala Harris. This news comes hot on the heels of last month’s hiring of Kate Bedingfield, the former White House communications director under President Biden.

Simmons is no stranger to the political landscape, having been at the intersection of politics and media for three decades.

His resume boasts an impressive array of roles, including Deputy Assistant to President Joe Biden and Communications Director to Vice President Kamala Harris. Prior to his stint in the Biden-Harris White House, Simmons was a political contributor for CBS News and NPR.

Before joining CBS, Simmons hosted digital interviews for Hill TV with political leaders and celebrities. He also spent nearly a decade advising corporate, political, and foundation leaders at the Raben Group.

His political career includes serving as a press secretary for two presidential primary campaigns, managing the national state media operation for Gore/Lieberman 2000, and acting as a Gore spokesman during the Florida recount.

Simmons’ political journey began on Bill Clinton’s 1992 traveling campaign staff, where he set up events around the world for the Clinton White House.

He also served as an assistant to U.S. Trade Representative and Commerce Secretary Mickey Kantor, representing the U.S. government in 15 countries including Bosnia, Ukraine, Haiti, and China.

CNN’s decision to hire Simmons, following their recent addition of Bedingfield, raises questions about the network’s impartiality.

It’s hard to ignore the fact that CNN spends a significant portion of its airtime criticizing former President Trump, while simultaneously adding former Biden officials to its roster.

This pattern of behavior, especially in an election year, only serves to reinforce the perception of CNN as a press office for Biden and the Democrats.

The network’s unabashed bias is not lost on its audience. The hiring of Simmons was announced on Twitter by CNN Communications, who welcomed him as a Political Commentator.

The tweet was met with mixed reactions, with some questioning the network’s objectivity given its penchant for hiring former Biden administration officials.

CNN’s latest hiring decision further blurs the line between journalism and political advocacy. As the network continues to add former Biden officials to its ranks, one can’t help but question whether its coverage can truly be unbiased.
