Biden Administration Forced to Halt Entries Amid Unprecedented Migrant Surge

The Biden administration has been forced to suspend entries due to a surge of migrants, as shelters are reaching their maximum capacity.

This situation, which is unprecedented, has led to the temporary closure of the El Paso, Texas port of entry with Mexico. The personnel at this crossing are now tasked with processing the large number of illegal migrants arriving between ports.

This sudden surge in migrant crossings has put immense pressure on border facilities, creating a crisis situation. The El Paso port, shared between El Paso and Ciudad Juárez, is currently closed with no specified date for when normal operations will resume.

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that the suspension will allow its officers to assist the U.S. Border Patrol in processing noncitizens, including vulnerable populations like families and unaccompanied children.

The situation has been made worse by shocking footage showing thousands of migrants illegally crossing the Rio Grande River from Mexico into Texas. Despite Joe Biden’s new program allowing asylum seekers to apply for entry at legal ports, the number of illegal crossings has skyrocketed.

In a concerning development, it appears that drug cartels are orchestrating the surge in migrant crossings.

By creating chaos at the border, these criminal organizations are able to carry out their illicit activities without interference. This has raised serious concerns about national security and the safety of border communities.

The situation in California and Arizona is equally alarming. Photos have emerged showing Border Patrol buses filled with migrants parked in San Diego, resulting in several hundred people being released onto the streets.

The Border Patrol in San Diego reportedly had 20,000 migrants in custody last week, 5,000 more than their facilities can handle. Similar releases of migrants have occurred in Tucson, Arizona, where agents are dealing with 2,000 people a day and struggling with overcrowded shelters.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration’s response to this crisis has been unsatisfactory. Despite the President’s plea in March 2021 for potential migrants not to come to the U.S., the number of illegal crossings has continued to rise.

The new CBP One app, which allows migrants to apply for asylum on their phones and schedule an appointment to enter the U.S. legally, has done little to decrease the number of migrants entering the country.

The Biden administration needs to take decisive action to secure our borders, protect our communities, and uphold the rule of law.
