Congress Becomes Target for Firearms Influencer Brandon Herrera

In a surprising turn of events, popular firearms influencer and YouTube star, Brandon Herrera, announced his intention to run for Congress.

Known for his niche content creation and celebrity status within the firearms community, Herrera is now setting his sights on a new target – the political arena.

Herrera, owner and operator of The AK Guy, a North Carolina-based company that manufactures a variety of Kalashnikov pattern firearms and accessories, amassed a following of over 2.8 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

His influence in the realm of firearm history, use, and safety is undeniable. Now, he believes he can wield this influence more effectively within the halls of Congress.

The Texas Republican primary election, slated for March 5, 2024, will see Herrera challenging incumbent Republican Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas’ 23rd district.

This district, stretching from San Antonio to El Paso, boasts more border frontage with Mexico than any other in the country. Herrera has criticized Gonzales for failing his constituents by voting against Republicans and in favor of amnesty.

Herrera’s campaign is not just about gun rights; although he made it clear he will never vote for gun control.

He pledged to do everything within his power to tame the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and challenge ATF Director Steven Dettelbach at every opportunity.

Earlier this year, Herrera testified at a congressional hearing about the threats posed by the ATF to ordinary Americans.

However, Herrera’s political ambitions extend beyond the Second Amendment.

He also expressed his desire to combat digital censorship and Big Tech, in addition to securing the southern border, a particularly pertinent issue for the constituents of the 23rd district.

Describing himself as a “libertarian-leaning” individual, Herrera voiced his frustration with the current state of America.

He believes the country should be a place that provides freedom and opportunity for individuals to pursue their own goals, rather than promising to fulfill all their desires.

In a clever marketing move, Herrera adopted the well-known anti-Biden chant, “Let’s Go Brandon,” as his campaign slogan.

Brandon Herrera’s entry into the political sphere ultimately marks a significant shift from his role as a firearms influencer.

His commitment to protecting constitutionally guaranteed rights, coupled with his stance against incumbent politicians who vote against the interests of the American people, sets the stage for an intriguing campaign.
