A significant trial is currently unfolding in Washington, DC.
Zachary Alam, a central figure in the events of January 6th, is set to stand trial on September 5th. However, this trial is about more than just Alam. It aims to bring to light the tragic death of Ashli Babbit at the hands of Capitol Police Officer Michael Byrd.
Having witnessed Babbit’s shooting firsthand, Alam has chosen to go to trial to uncover the truth behind that fateful incident.
His defense team is taking an assertive approach, aiming to compel Officer Byrd to testify and be held accountable for his actions on that day. Alam’s decision to reject a plea deal and face trial is seen as an act of courage in the pursuit of truth and justice for Ashli Babbit.

Alam was a J6 rioter, not anyone who worked in the Capitol.
Most people don’t know this.
Now imagine what else you don’t know and have just been told.

After more than 950 days in detention, Alam made a public statement for the first time.
In his statement, he recounts the events of January 6th, including his encounter with Ashli Babbit, whom he credits with saving his life. He describes her as a true American patriot and expresses his gratitude for her bravery.
Alam’s journey has been far from ordinary. After dropping out of medical school at 23, he became entangled in the criminal justice system.
During his time in jail, he found solace in Christianity and turned his life around. Upon his release in 2018, he relocated to Washington DC and started working in the tourism industry.
However, the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted his newfound stability. As lockdowns were implemented and businesses closed, Alam lost his job and witnessed the crumbling of society around him.
This experience, combined with his skepticism towards the government’s handling of the pandemic, led him to attend the Trump rally on January 6th.

In his statement, Alam challenges the government’s portrayal of the January 6th protesters as “terrorists” and “insurrectionists.”
He highlights the irony of Officer Byrd being labeled a victim in his case despite being the one who fired the sole gunshot that day. Alam is determined to address these inconsistencies during his trial, which commences on September 5th.
As Alam prepares for his day in court, the J6 Legal Fund is seeking donations to cover the costs of his trial. Alam will be represented by Attorney Steven Metcalf, known for successfully defending against a seditious conspiracy charge in the Proud Boys case.
