Late last month, the US Supreme Court determined that affirmative action in university admissions is unconstitutional. This means that as colleges choose which students are accepted, excluding or including individuals solely on the basis of race isn’t going to fly any longer.
Of course, the ruling went viral, with people taking to various social media sites to share their thoughts on this outcome and its forthcoming impacts.
Some of the most disturbing takes have come from Democrats and other left-wingers who are in favor of affirmative action. As Red State reports, it didn’t take long for leftist defenses of affirmative action to become racist.
This Isn’t a Good Look
Democrats have been taking to social media, screaming that because of affirmative action being deemed as unconstitutional, people of color won’t be able to compete.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, for instance, argued that in the wake of the Supreme Court’s ruling, there’s likely to be fewer racial minorities on college campuses.
“They only have to look to California to know exactly what’s going to happen: You’re going to see a significant decline in African American and Latino admissions in institutions of higher learning.”

Other Democrats are insisting that Asian people — who were negatively impacted by affirmative action — are evil and racist for being supportive of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
At the end of the day, supporting race-based discrimination against Asians and arguing that affirmative action is the only way for other minorities to get admitted into college each fall under the umbrella of racism.
There’s no greater irony than Democrats’ inability to understand this.
The Bottom Line
Going forward, universities will be legally mandated to abide by the ruling of the Supreme Court.
Liberals: “Stop Asian hate!”
*Supreme Court rules Harvard can’t systemically discriminate against Asians in admissions*
Liberals: “No! Not like that!”

A merit-based system is fair and best for everyone involved. It also ensures that people who do get into colleges are in the best position to succeed and thrive.
Finally, the verdict against affirmative action means no one will be unfairly promoted or discriminated against solely because of their race.
