Previous Estimates of American Gun Ownership Could Double as High as 60%

In a groundbreaking revelation, it appears up to 60% of Americans could be gun owners. This is a figure twice as high as previous estimates. This startling discovery was made by J.D. Tuccille, who shared his insights with Stephen Gutowski, founder of The Reload.

Tuccille emphasized if the study is accurate, it’s not just conservatives who own guns. This means liberal efforts to target guns as a means of punishing the right could backfire spectacularly.

The study from the New Jersey Gun Violence Research Center of Rutgers University has been making waves in the industry. It suggests there is a swell of “silent gun owners,” in a notable parallel to the “silent majority” often referenced in political conversations.

These are individuals who may deny owning firearms, due to concerns about government intrusion or societal judgment, specifically in urban locations where having a firearm can be looked upon unfavorably.

Tuccille further elaborated on this phenomenon in Reason Magazine, stating new gun owners will likely resist proposals to strip them of self-defense tools they acquired out of necessity.

The study’s methodology involved building profiles of confirmed gun owners and applying these profiles across 3,500 people to see who was most likely being dishonest about owning firearms.

The results were eye-opening, suggesting basically one-third of polled individuals might actually not be entirely truthful about their status as gun owners.

This revelation caught the attention of Gutowski, who featured Tuccille in a video post about the numbers and potential impact of the study.

The implications of this study are far-reaching. If the number of gun owners in America is indeed as high as 60%, this could have a significant impact on lawmakers pushing for gun control.

It also challenges the narrative that gun ownership is predominantly a conservative trait, opening up a broader conversation about the role of firearms in American society.

In conclusion, this study has shed light on a previously hidden aspect of American life, revealing a potential silent majority of gun owners.
