Republicans Issue Subpoenas to DHS and Secret Service as the Hunter Biden Saga Takes a Twist

Republican lawmakers have issued subpoenas to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Secret Service as they continue their investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged misconduct.

The investigation focuses on accusations that the Biden administration may have alerted Hunter Biden before an FBI interview.

The investigation is led by former IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who claim that despite their recommendation for Hunter Biden to be charged with a felony related to his taxes, the Department of Justice chose not to take action.

This has raised concerns about potential political interference in the decision-making process.

However, Democrats, including top Oversight Democrat Jamie Raskin, have pushed back against these claims. They accuse Republicans of hiding testimony from an FBI agent that contradicts Shapley and Ziegler’s allegations.

The agent testified that he never knew anyone in the Delaware U.S. attorney’s office, which handled the case, to make decisions based on politics.

Despite this, Republicans continue their pursuit of the truth, particularly investigating any potential connections between the alleged interference in the Hunter Biden probe and his father, President Joe Biden.

In a bold move, Rep. Comer issued six subpoenas on Tuesday. One was directed at DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, demanding documents, while the rest were sent to the Secret Service, requesting in-person testimonies related to the alleged ‘tip-off.’

These subpoenas come after a former FBI supervisory special agent, working on the Hunter Biden case, made allegations that he was prevented from interviewing Hunter Biden in 2020 after the agency informed the Secret Service and the Biden transition team about the planned interview.

Conservatives are alarmed by this revelation, as they argue that the tip-off could have allowed those close to President Biden and Hunter Biden to obstruct the investigation.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is leading the intensified probe to uncover the truth behind these allegations.

The former FBI agent also expressed confusion about why the Biden transition team was informed about the planned interview, considering it an unusual occurrence. He suggested that this incident was part of a broader issue that enabled Hunter Biden to avoid accountability for his income and actions.
