A week ago, a fisherman in Hilton Head, South Carolina was filmed walking away when an alligator came out of the water toward him. Then, a week later, another woman wasn’t so lucky.

While walking her dog by the same lagoon, the 69-year-old woman was attacked and viciously killed by the 10-foot beast.

Alligator Attack Stuns Community

The woman was walking her dog near the Hilton Head Island lagoon golf course when the assault occurred. This is the second deadly alligator attack in Beaufort County, South Carolina in the past year.

An 88-year-old woman was killed by an alligator in December of last year in Beaufort County, as well.

The woman was brutally mauled by the alligator. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the beast was guarding the mutilated body, making it more difficult to aid the injured woman.

Eventually, emergency crews managed to access the woman’s body and kill the possessive alligator. The woman’s unresponsive body was taken away from the scene of the tragic incident, and she was later pronounced dead.

What About the Dog?

The health of the woman’s dog has not been released, and we can only wish the best for the furry critter.

Alligator attacks have been on the rise in America, particularly in the states of South Carolina and Florida.

Authorities are still investigating this attack and exactly how it occurred.
