Travel Warning: US Advises Against Traveling to China

The US government is advising Americans against traveling to China due to the potential risks involved. If you have plans to travel to China, it is recommended to cancel them according to the government.

They are warning that even in Hong Kong, Americans are at risk of unjust imprisonment or being restricted from leaving freely.

Welcome to Communist China, You Can Never Leave

China has been enforcing laws in an arbitrary manner and has banned Americans from leaving the country based on weak justifications. In May of this year, John Shing-Wan Leung, a 78-year-old American, was sentenced to life in prison.

The Chinese government claims that Leung is an American spy.

Furthermore, China recently enacted new foreign relations laws that pose a risk to anyone who goes against the country’s interests.

Not only ordinary individuals, but foreign companies as well, can end up on China’s blacklist and face imprisonment, irrespective of the actual charges brought against them.

Considering the atrocities being committed by China against its own Uighur population, it is highly likely that they will escalate the persecution of Americans and foreign citizens.

New Counterintelligence Crimes

China has also passed a concerning counterintelligence law that has alarmed the foreign business community.

Another law has been enacted that makes criticism of China’s communist regime a potential crime, even for foreigners.

US citizens residing in or traveling to China are at risk of being unjustly detained without knowledge of the reason for their arrest and without access to consular assistance.

In the case of John Shing-Wan Leung, it is still unclear what evidence, if any, China has against him. Leung was arrested on April 15, 2021, in Suzhou City.

Apart from Leung, there are several other Americans and foreign nationals who are currently detained in China.

Cases include Cheng Lei and Yang Jun, Chinese-Australians who have been imprisoned since 2019, and Canadians Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, who were arrested in 2018.

The Bottom Line

China, being a dangerous communist regime, should not be trusted. It is best to stay away, especially when you consider the lack of support from the weak Biden regime.

If you find yourself stuck in China, the US government is unlikely to provide significant assistance.
